If you're a fan of cheesy holiday movies you may notice a familiar face this season.

Christmas movie season is in full swing, with dozens of original films being broadcast around the clock on Hallmark, Lifetime and other cable channels. Last year one of those holiday movies wound up being filmed in Rhinebeck. And this year, another film is starring a local actress.

Always and Forever Christmas is now airing on Lifetime. It tells the story of a marketing exec named Lucy who's inherited her grandfather’s year-round Christmas store in her Vermont hometown. Before she can sell the store to a big clothing company she has to go back home to help out at the store's final Christmas season. Of course, she runs into a handsome local who helps melt her icy heart with the help of a magical visitor from the north.

It's basically the same plot as every other TV Christmas movie, but Always and Forever Christmas has something all of those other films don't. It stars a Hudson Valley graduate. Lexi Lawson, who plays the role of Lucy, is a graduate of Newburgh Free Academy. The actress previously played the role of Eliza Hamilton in the hit Broadway musical, Hamilton.

Lawson has returned to the area many times after making it big on Broadway. The actress has spoken to current NFA students about the importance of arts in education and she will be participating in this year's tree lighting at Woodbury Common Premium Outlets.
