Bundle up, it's going to be a cold one. Words we thought we would never say at the end of March. What happened to "in like a lion, out like a lamb?"

If you've stepped outside within the last few days, you were probably slapped in the face with an unexpected cold front. We understand that there is potential for colder weather in March, but coming off the heels of record-breaking warm weather has our heads spinning.

Record-Breaking Heat in Poughkeepsie, NY

Back on March 6th, the National Weather Service reported that Poughkeepsie had broken an 87-year-old weather record. The NWS recorded 68 degrees in Poughkeepsie that weekend, back in 1935 it was 63 degrees.

Record-Breaking Chill in Poughkeepsie, NY

A few weeks later and we're breaking another record, this time the temps are dropping.

The National Weather Service writes:

A record low maximum temperature of 31 was set at Poughkeepsie NY yesterday, March 28. This breaks the old record of 35 set in 1959.

Last week, we were warned that a Polar Vortex would bring winter back to the Hudson Valley and it looks like the meteorologist were right this time! Personally, taking my dog out for a walk was painful on Monday, March 28th. The cold temperatures, plus the strong winds didn't make being outside enjoyable at all.

According to Hudson Valley Weather, the cold winter-like weather will continue throughout the last few days of March. There's a wintery mix in the forecast as well as temperature highs in the 40s.

Thankfully, the weather will feel more spring-like by the end of the week. For April 1st, Hudson Valley Weather is reporting a few clouds, and possible showers, with a high around 54.

Let's hope April showers stay just that, rain and not snow.
