Owner of Columbia County Horse Farm Found Guilty in Animal Neglect Case
NYS Police Investigate Animal Neglect in Columbia County
An investigation by the New York State Police back in 2024 found several emaciated animals living in poor conditions at a farm in Tivoli.
According to a press release from The Columbia County District Attorney's Office the farm in question is Blue Star Farms. They're described as an equestrian and farming property.
The press release states that law enforcement found the horses "had inadequate access to water and food and that the barn, barn stalls and walkway were littered with debris, hazards, and manure."
The statement goes on to add at the time of the investigation
Several of the horses were found to be emaciated with bones visible under their skin. Others showed a thick yellow discharge coming from their eyes. They were housed inside a barn that lacked fans or proper ventilation.
Additionally, they report that at least one of the horses had an "open leg wound covered with flies along with an injury to its knee swollen three to four times normal size."
Back in 2024, when the horse training farm was investigated, the horses were "removed from the property" with the help of Lucky Orphans Horse Rescue in Dover Plains.
Sadly, 2 of the horses were euthanized after they were removed from the Columbia County farm.
