A family in Columbia County is safe after a possible kidnapping attempt on their young child.

According to a report from The Hudson City Police Department, on Thursday, November 16th around 12 P.M., a man in his 30s allegedly approached a 10-year-old child.

The police department recounts the terrifying events from earlier this week in a statement posted on social media:

The child was walking down Harry Howard Avenue in the area of the Crosswinds Apartments when he was approached by a white van driven by white male, reported be in his 30’s who spoke Spanish. The driver stopped near the child and was told to get into the van by the driver. The child ran to his 13 year old sister for safety, who witnessed the van stop but was too far away to hear what the driver said.

Safety Concerns in Hudson, NY After Possible Child Abduction

Thankfully, the child and his family are safe. Of course, any situation that puts a child in danger can shake up a community. The Hudson City Police Department understands that and is doing what it can to keep the community and families safe and up to date.
