When Will Peak Foliage Take Over the Hudson Valley?
Fall Weather Heading Towards the Hudson Valley
As August comes to an end, fall like weather swoops in making it feel more like we're in the middle of September.
Meteorologist Ben Noll writes "Cool, crisp air from Canada will blow into the country this week, making it feel more like September in the Hudson Valley." Part of the cool weather was thanks to Hurricane Erin.
Noll explains that Erin is only partially responsible for this welcomed chill in the air.
The forecast heading into September is a beautiful mix of highs in the 70s to lows in the 50s.
I can't be the only one with fall on the mind and more importantly, leaf peeping season!
When Will Peak Foliage Encompass The Hudson Valley?
If you're ready to see the leaves change from green to bright yellows, reds, oranges and browns, you're not alone.
The Hudson Valley has already been named a top destination for leaf peepers this fall. So when will the leaves start changing?
According to ExploreFall.com, they have an interactive map that lets you scan through the dates to see the estimated dates of foliage expectancy.
The website predicts the leaves will start to change in the Catskills around September 21st. Then, by the 25th the color will start to change in parts of the Hudson Valley near Ulster.
By October 1st the whole Hudson Valley should see some color change in the leaves.
As for peak foliage, we'll have to wait for October 21st.
Fall officially starts on September 21st, 2025.
