Orange County Native Called Up To Play For Cleveland Indians

A Hudson Valley native was recently called up from Triple-A baseball to play for the Cleveland Indians.

CBS Sports reports that the MLB team, the Cleveland Indians, have called up an Orange County native to the bullpen. A recent MRI for closing pitcher Brad Hand gave him clearance, but he is likely unable to pitch due to arm fatigue. The Indians manager, Terry Francona, decided to call up James Karinchak, a right-handed pitcher from Orange County, New York.

CBS Sports touts Karinchak as a "strikeout expert". He struck out 74 batters in 30.1 minor league innings this season. 84% of his outs this season were purely from strikeouts. He has a 2.67 ERA' and his strikeouts-per-nine innings rate is 22.

Orange County Executive, Steven Neuhaus, posted on Instagram confirming Karinchak is from Orange County. Karinchak is a Valley Central School District Graduate. He is 23 years old, about to turn 24.
