New Years Day Dinner Superstitions
Well it is time to plan another holiday meal. What will you serve on New Years Day for dinner? A lot of families have traditions. I know my did. New Years day dinner was always pork and I never knew why. I figured it was because we had eaten turkey on thanksgiving, beef rib roast on Christmas so the only thing left was ham. Turns out it may have been that my family is superstitious.
We weren't a spiral ham family we were the fresh ham folks. My dad had a killer recipe for fresh ham that included spreading peanut butter all over the outside before you put it in the oven. I can still remember the year my mom made it and cut little squares in the top and I got stuck being the person who put all the cloves in the little squares before it went in to the oven.
So it turns out that my family may have had ham on New Year because they were a bit superstitious. Apparently there are foods you should eat on New Years day that bring you good luck and good fortune in the new year. Check out the complete list I found from Allrecipes.com and see if anything your planning to have made the list.
