New Year Stabbing Leads to Arrest in Orange County
Police in New Windsor, NY have arrested a man after he allegedly stabbed another man at an Orange County, New York apartment complex.
The new year started on the wrong foot in New Windsor, NY after one man allegedly stabbed another at the Old Forge Hill Apartments early Thursday, January 2nd leading police into its first investigation of 2025.
Stabbing in New Windsor, New York
According to a press release from the New Windsor Police Department, officers were called to respond to a reported stabbing at an apartment complex located at 336 Old Forge Hill Rd, New Windsor, NY at approximately 9:14 a.m. Thursday, January 2nd. Police said that as officers arrived on the scene they discovered a 45-year-old male with multiple stab wounds to his chest, face, and hands.

The victim was "bleeding profusely" and was quickly transported by New Windsor EMS to Montefiore St Luke's Cornwall Hospital in Newburgh, NY to receive treatment for his wounds.
Man Arrested Following Stabbing
Police said that the victim gave them a description of the person who allegedly stabbed him before heading to the hospital and because of that they were able to apprehend the suspect a short time later. 22-year-old Khiyan Bascus of New Windsor was located in the area and arrested by police, who were also able to recover the weapon allegedly used in the attack. Bascus was charged with two violent felonies including 2nd-degree attempted murder and 2nd-degree assault. He was also charged with criminal possession of a weapon a misdemeanor.
Bascus was being held pending arraignment at the Centralized Arraignment Part in Goshen, New York according to police.
