Popular New Paltz Bar Ends Lengthy Legal Battle
After months of legal battles, the owners of a popular New Paltz, NY bar & restaurant have ended their legal battles.
Back in April, we told you that P & G's "a cornerstone" in New Paltz, New York had their license to sell liquor suspended after New York State authorities conducted a raid in March that resulted in four bartenders being charged with serving underage patrons and numerous customers getting tickets for using fake IDs.
P & G's Liquor License Suspended
Following the raid, New York state authorities immediately suspended the bar's license to sell alcohol. Soon after it was announced that an area judge ruled that the establishment would be allowed to serve alcohol while the state liquor authority and bar owners tried to work out an agreement to answer the violations.
Liquor License Restored, Charges Dropped
After spending a lengthy amount of time litigating the issue both parties finally reached an agreement that would restore the bar's liquor license and have most of the previous charges dropped according to HV 1. The agreement, which was voted on and agreed to on July 18th has the bar owners paying a $25,000 fine and states that they have agreed to set several voluntary restrictions on the business.

Hudson Valley attorney Joseph O’Connor, who represented the bar throughout the settlement process told HV1 that as part of the agreement the bar won't sell beer by the pitcher, there will no longer be any live entertainment (bands or DJs) and the bar owners will be purchasing and installing a new state-of-the-art ID verification system called Intellicheck, which is connected to DMV computers and will be used to confirm patrons identification and age.

All security at the bar has been outsourced to a licensed security firm, which means none of the bar bouncers will be on the bar payroll.
P & G's has been owned and operated by the Beck family for many years and Mike Beck, Jr., who is one of the third generation of the Beck family to operate the popular bar has been reported to be both relieved and pleased with the outcome saying this ends "months of uncertainty".
