I loved when my Aunt Laura would babysit my sister and I, she would read us bedtime stories, she'd do all the characters in different voices, and her facial expressions really made the stories come alive! That's the first thing I thought of when I found out that this week is Children's Book Week.

I read all of the time growing up. I think I drove my parents crazy going back and forth from either the library or the book store! Some of my favorite books growing up were "Little House on the Prairie", "Heidi", "Wind in the Willows", "Secret Garden", but my all-time favorite was "Charlotte's Web". I had the first chapter memorized because I read it over and over and I would recite it over and over(much to the delight of my parents I'm sure!)

Since this is Children's Book week, this could be a good time to start reading books as a family, or begin a bedtime story tradition. There's a lot of great libraries here in the Hudson Valley and they have summer reading suggestions and programs! This is certainly not meant to be an all-inclusive list, but it could be a good place to start.

If you still want a little help with some great Children's Book titles, here's the list of the Top 100 Children's Books put together by the New York Public Library. Whenever I read a book, or had one read to me, I would get lost in the characters and the story line. It was and still is the best!

I've including some of my favorite titles, but what are your favorites? What books do you remember from your childhood? What are the books you buy your own children or grandchildren? I'd love to know, so that I can continue to add to my own library! Happy Children's Book week and happy reading!
