The folks over at the National Weather Service have just issued a Heat Advisory from noon today through 8 p.m. tonight.

The heat advisory is for Eastern Ulster and Western Dutchess counties.

With temperatures heading into the mid 90s mixed with humidity it will create Heat Index temperatures up to 104 degrees around the Hudson Valley.

They issue a heat advisory when the combination of heat and humidity is expected to make it feel like it is 100 to 104 degrees for two consecutive hours.

This type of weather affects all of us but really can be harmful for people that have health problems such as lung disease and heart disease. It also affects the elderly and people who have to work outdoors.

On days like today make sure you drink lots of water, stay out of the sun, if possible stay in air conditioning and make sure to check up on relatives and the elderly.
