Today we celebrate the United States Marine Corps. The Continental Marines were established in 1775.

The United States Marine Corps Birthday is celebrated every year on the 10th of November with a traditional ball and cake cutting ceremony.

Gen. Robert Neller is so excited for the Marines a happy 240th birthday, his first as their commandant he released a video.

During the 10-minute video, as you will see, Neller appeals to the Marine Corps to remember what it means to be a Marine, drawing a line from the first steps onto the yellow footprints to honoring those Marines who have come before.

This year also marks the 100th anniversary of Parris Island, and the video opens with young recruits about to enter boot camp.

And with tomorrow being Veterans day, can you help us help families of deployed service men and woman? Make a donation that will stay right here in the Hudson Valley.
