Kingston Giving a Free Gift to Shoppers This Month

Shoppers in the City of Kingston, New York are set to receive a free gift starting December 14th.

In an effort to make shopping a little lighter on everyone's pocketbook this year, the City of Kingston has announced that they will be offering shoppers something for free this holiday season to not only help shoppers but to also allow city staff to take care of some end of the year maintenance.

According to the City of Kingston's Facebook page, the city is preparing to offer all holiday shoppers the opportunity to park their cars for free for a couple of hours. The free 2-hour holiday parking will be available from Saturday, December 14 through Wednesday, January 1, 202,5 in the city's municipal parking lots and at city meters. Anyone planning to park for free must observe all traffic and parking rules and park in legal spots.

Regular enforcement of parking meters will resume on January 2, 2025.

During the free parking period, Kingston parking staff will focus on meter repair and routine maintenance but will still be issuing safety violations to any vehicle that blocks fire hydrants, parks in a handicapped spot, or double parks. They will also be on the lookout for expired inspections, so make sure your inspection is up to date before you park in the city.

Kingston also took the time to remind anyone who uses a parking permit to park in the City’s municipal lots city that its 2025 parking permits are now available for sale and renewal online here. Parking permits are issued electronically in Kingston and linked to a license plate or plates as the city doesn't issue any physical tags. Households that purchase a permit will be allowed to assign up to two vehicles to each 2025 parking permit, but only one vehicle will be able to use the permit at a time.
