Orange County Sheriff’s Office Shows Off New Vehicle Design
The Orange County Sheriff's Office is giving its fleet a fresh new look, and the difference between the old and new designs is pretty noticeable.
If you've spent any time driving around Orange County, you've probably seen an Orange County Sheriff's Office vehicle. Deputies are constantly traveling the county's roads, responding to calls, patrolling neighborhoods, and helping out when something goes wrong.
Now, those familiar vehicles are getting a makeover.
New Orange County Sheriff's Office Vehicle Design
The Orange County Sheriff's Office recently introduced the newest design for its fleet, calling it a “bold new design and a fresh new look.”
And after seeing the new vehicles, I'd say that's a pretty accurate description.

The new SUVs feature a primarily black design with large white “SHERIFF” lettering across the sides. The words “Orange County” are displayed above it, while the Sheriff's Office badge is prominently featured toward the front of the vehicle.
One of the biggest changes is the large white angled stripe that runs across the front doors and toward the hood. The new design gives the vehicles a much more modern appearance while still making it immediately clear that you're looking at an Orange County Sheriff's Office vehicle.
Here's What The Old Vehicles Looked Like
If you're wondering just how different the new design really is, take a look at the vehicles the Sheriff's Office has been using.

The older design also featured black vehicles, but the “SHERIFF” lettering was much different. The old design pictured above featured large outlined lettering along the doors, with a thinner stripe running along the side of the vehicle.

The new design replaces that look with much larger, solid white lettering and the bold angled stripe across the front.

So while the Sheriff's Office didn't completely reinvent the wheel with the new fleet, there's definitely a noticeable difference when you put the two designs next to each other.
And honestly, I kind of like when police departments do this. You see these vehicles all the time, so changing the design gives the fleet a completely different appearance without making it difficult to recognize.
The Sheriff's Office hasn't announced exactly how many vehicles will receive the new design or how quickly the entire fleet will be replaced. For now, though, Orange County residents will likely start seeing more of these new vehicles out on the roads.
