4 Former New York ShopRite Stores Reopening This Month

Four former ShopRite locations in upstate New York are set to reopen under a new name before the end of June.

Last year ShopRite announced that they would be closing numerous stores across New York including five stores in upstate New York. Stores in Albany, Colonie, Niskayuna, Slingerlands, and North Greenbush all closed their doors for good in November 2023. Soon after it was announced that a familiar name in groceries bought all five stores and was going to reopen most of them soon under a new name.

New Grocery Stores Opening in Upstate New York

All five of the former ShopRite locations were purchased by Price Chopper/Market 32 and four of the five stores will be reopening on Friday, June 14th at 8 a.m. under the new name Market 32. This will be the first time Price Chopper/Market 32 has ever opened four stores simultaneously! Price Chopper/Market 32 president Blaine Bringhurst told WTEN,

"This is a momentous day for our company. In the more than 90 years we’ve been serving our customers and communities we’ve never opened four stores simultaneously."

 

New Market 32 Stores in New York

The four new Market 32 locations are located at 709 Central Avenue in Albany, 1730 Central Avenue in Colonie, 2333 Nott Street East in Niskayuna, and 102 Van Rensselaer Square in North Greenbush, New York. In celebration of the grand openings, all four stores will offer customers a great way to save some money on both June 14 and June 15th. All customers at the four Market 32 locations will get 5% off their grocery bills and Price Chopper/Market 32 will also be donating 5% of sales from each location on those days to numerous area charities.

What Will Happen at the Ellenville ShopRite?

With Market 32 opening former ShopRite's in upstate New York, many in the Ellenville area are wondering what will happen to the ShopRite store on Route 209 in the Town of Wawarsing, New York. A few months back we learned that the store would be closing before the end of the year and just this week Hudson Valley Post discovered that 61 ShopRite of Ellenville employees will be out of work by August 31, 2024.
