The Summer of 2020 is really becoming the season of things we didn't get to do. I think we had all hoped that as August grew closer we would be able to see some of our bigger summer annual events be left on the calendar for us to enjoy. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem to be the case. Today we had another well liked event announce they are pulling the plug for this year.

The Ellenville Wawarsing Chamber of Commerce made it official today that they have to cancel this year's Blueberry Festival. According to a statement shared on Facebook today, which I have posted below, Chamber President Dan Course announced they waited as long as they could but it became clear they weren't going to be able to hold the Blueberry Festival as scheduled.

Yesterday we learned that all things garlic would not be happening this year with the cancellation of the Hudson Valley Garlic Festival. Now, today we say goodbye to all things Blueberry until 2021. The only thing I can hope is that with all of these delicious festivals being canceled I might actually spare myself a few calories this summer.

If you have never attended the Blueberry Festival in Ellenville you have to put it on the calendar for 2021, if for nothing else the fact that it starts with a blueberry pancake breakfast which is also a Fire Company Fundraiser. It is a family fun event that pays tribute to the areas once thriving blueberry industry. The day draws more than 175 vendor with everything from blueberry goodies to clothing, jewelry, art and more. You can count on next years Blueberry Festival being the biggest yet.
