Would you know how to recognize if a swimmer is in distress? Believe it or not, it isn't always easy to tell, and the longer it takes to identify someone in trouble, the more chance there is that they could become a victim of drowning.

That's why the Dutchess County Department of Behavioral & Community Health has added a session to its popular Drowning Prevention Seminar Series this Wednesday evening at 8 at the Poughkeepsie Tennis Club located at 135 Hamilton Street in Poughkeepsie.

Lifeguards, as well as residents are encouraged to attend. Topics to be covered include help in supervising swimmers and identifying swimmers in distress. In addition, a video to help attendees recognize a swimmer in distress will be shown as well as a discussion pertaining to lifeguard duties and responsibilities. Everyone who successfully completes the program will be awarded a certificate of attendance.

Space is limited, so you can reserve your seat by making reservations by calling (845) 486-3404.
