Saturday (May 4th) is I Love My Park Day. Area parks are offering ways people can celebrate the day and make a difference in a park in your community. The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation has posted a list of events you can attend. Depending on where you live in the Hudson Valley you could help out at one of these organized events. Of course no one will stop you from heading to your own local park with a trash bag and picking up around your favorite place to be on a beautiful spring day.

In Dutchess County you can head to Mills Norrie State Park for an afternoon of clean up and fun. The event is 2 PM to 6 PM. Project 1 is a brush clean up around the environmental center and its waterfront access. I Fish NY will be there to encourage volunteers to take a break and go angling with the NYSDEC. Project 2: is Trash Cleanup along the trails, shoreline and parking lot. Volunteers can come at anytime and all ages are welcome.

In Sullivan County the Mongaup Pond Campground and Day Use Area is inviting volunteers to gather at the Use Area parking lot from 10 AM to 2 PM. Project 1 is campsite clean-up. It is open to all ages. Project 2 covers Painting so that is open to Adults 18 and older. And Project 3 involves planting trees and shrubs. All project participants should bring water, snacks and work gloves.

In Ulster County the Ulster Catskill Visitor Center on Route 28 in Mount Tremper in inviting volunteers from 9 AM to 3 PM to help plant trees, take out invasive species, install vegetation and do some like trail maintenance.
