I've only been to Beacon two or three times, but the town comes up a lot in conversation.

Many people offer up names of restaurants and bars to go check out or to hike Mt. Beacon when the weather is nice.

I decided I wanted to learn more about Beacon, I searched Wikipedia and found out that some cool and historical stuff has happened here.

In the 1800s, Beacon was home to to almost 50 hat factories. One particular company came during the 1900s named Dutchess Hat Works and they were producing 450 dozen hats each day. Wow.

Beacon was able to play a large part in the Revolutionary War. Not only were war supplies made here, but signal fires were launched on top of Mt. Beacon and were used for navigation.

Beacon has a rare light coined "the dummy light" on Main Street. There are only a few of these across the country and it's pretty much a traffic signal that sits on a pedestal in the intersection.

Feel feel to drop a comment below if you know any more cool stuff about Beacon.

Here at the Wolf, we are so excited that more towns throughout the Hudson Valley will be able to enjoy country music with us. Beacon can now hear country music on 97.7 FM.
