If you're a homeowner or small business owner, Cornell Cooperative Extension is here to help with two upcoming programs to help you save energy and money. Some of the ideas are surprisingly simple that could have big benefits. Cornell Cooperative Extension has been helping area residents with tools and education to help with budgets, family programs, gardening, and more for over one hundred years. They do their homework and their research so that the information you get from them is viable and usable.

With that in mind, Cornell Cooperative Extension will offer an Alternative Heating For Homes and Small Businesses program on Tuesday, December 8 from 6:30- 8:30 pm at The Dutchess Farm and Home Center on Route 44 in Millbrook. Several speakers will discuss topics such as alternative heating systems including passive solar, solar hot water, solar panels, geothermal heat, air-source heat pumps, pellet stoves, home energy audits, and insulating and air-sealing. IN addition, you'll learn about incentive programs through NYSERDA and Solarize Hudson Valley.

If you can't make it on Tuesday, then mark Wednesday, December 9 on your calendar as Cornell Cooperative Extension will present a program at the Pleasant Valley Library, entitled 'Save Energy, Save Dollars' from 6:30-8:30 pm.  You'll learn how to help reduce your energy bills, discover low,or no-cost, energy saving actions you can easily take to reduce your energy usage, and get information on programs for free or reduced-cost energy audits and energy assistance programs for qualifying households. Everyone who attends will receive free energy efficient light bulbs. While this event is free, they do ask that you pre-register and you can do that here.
