A new furnace..the week before Christmas?

It started innocently enough with our annual furnace and hot water heater inspection. The hot water heater looked good. Then things took a turn, a bad turn, a "how MUCH is this gonna cost me the week before Christmas!?!" turn. Our furnace apparently had developed a crack in the heat thingy inside and it was travelling upwards or crossways or something and, well, it wasn't good. So, a new one was ordered and it got installed today.

While I am extremely grateful that the tech found this problem so our furnace didn't go in the middle of a sub-zero night, it's still the week before Christmas! My husband and I have decided that this is our Christmas present to each other...as well as birthday, anniversary, and any other gift giving opportunity in the first part of next year!

My husband always says there is good and bad to everything. The good thing about having to clean up our basement to allow the guys to work is that I found a box of Christmas decorations I thought were long gone, a space heater I thought we'd never find, and a box of the ugliest sweaters ever, well 2 out of 3 ain't bad.
