What to Do If You Come Across a Newborn Fawn

It's that time of year.

According to Native Animal Rescue, between spring and summer (usually April through June) deer will likely give birth to one to three babies.

If you follow any kind of social media page that is dedicated to animals or nature through the Hudson Valley, you have probably seen a handful of posts with pictures of newborn fawns.

The Hudson Valley Humane Society took to their Facebook page to remind Hudson Valley residents to leave the fawn alone.

In the post, they explain that deer with give birth in some of the strangest places. They also mention that the mother will leave the fawn for periods of time. And that's okay. If you see a fawn curled up and alone, they are fine.

According to the Hudson Valley Humane Society, the mother deer is "actually off feeding and helping to keep predators away." They also add that the fawns "have no scent and predators cannot find them unless humans interfere."
