End of watch Thursday, September 17, 2015

All of here at 94.3/97.3 The Wolf would like everyone to take a moment today to remember the town of Crawford Police Sergeant Eric Meier who passed away in the line of duty on September 17, 2015.

If you don't remember, Sergeant Meier suffered a fatal heart attack while conducting a drug investigation in a remote area while searching for a marijuana grow operation.

According to the website Officer Down, the illegal marijuana grow was reported in a section of farmland and woods off of Lybolt Road, near Gordon Road in the town of Crawford in Orange County.

Sergeant Meier and another officer started hiking to locate the grow when Meier began to fall ill and that's when his partner requested medical assistance to help. Once help arrived, Meier was brought out of the remote area and transported to Orange Regional Medical Center in Middletown, where he was pronounced dead.

Sergeant Meier had served in local law enforcement for 25 years and is survived by his wife and two sons. Rest in peace Sergeant Meier.
