Walk with The Wolf and save a heart!
Heart disease and stroke have had a major impact in my family and my circle of friends. Some have pulled through just fine, others are still dealing with the after effects, and some didn't survive. I know that I am not alone in this.
My family is certainly not the only family affected by heart disease. In fact, according to The American Heart Association, cardiovascular disease is the No. 1 killer of Americans. Someone dies from CVD every 39 seconds, heart disease also kills more women than all forms of cancer combined, and congenital cardiovascular defects are the most common cause of infant death from birth defects.
There is something we can do about this though, and the first step is joining me this Saturday at Vassar College for the 2014 Dutchess/Ulster Heart Walk! Pre-registration starts at 8:30 and the walk begins at 10. It's always a great day, no matter the weather, breakfast is provided, we all warm-up before we walk, and afterwards there's lunch. But, the most important part is that much needed funds are raised for research, monies that will help save lives. This is why we walk. This is why I walk. I hope to see you this Saturday, I'll be the one in red!
