According to the Times Herald Record, police set up the sting by sending an underage operative into 13 locations on September 16th to attempt to buy alcohol and 3 of the 13 establishment did sell to alcohol to the undercover minor.

Two stores and one restaurant got caught in the sting that was over seen by the Village of Washingtonville Police Department, the Town of Blooming Grove police, the New York State Liquor Authority and the Orange County Sheriff’s Office.

The following people were charged, Vithange Gunawardana from Washingtonville, who works at Blooming Grove Sunoco in Blooming Grove, Gamini Ranasinghe, of Washingtonville, who works at Discount Liquor in Blooming Grove and Elizabeth Sullivan, of Washingtonville, who works at Napoli’s Restaurant in Washingtonville.

Police told the Record that all three that were arrested are all facing the same charge, which is unlawfully dealing with a minor, a misdemeanor.

All three were released from police custody with tickets to appear in court at a later date.
