Popular Sticker Contest is Back in Ulster County
Officials in Ulster County have announced that a fan-favorite tradition is making a return in 2026!
It might feel like the year just started, but somehow we’re already flying through it. Before long, election season will be here, and with it comes everything we’ve come to expect: campaign ads everywhere you turn, lawn signs popping up across every Hudson Valley neighborhood, and plenty of "conversations" about who should win some of the key local races.
Election Day in New York
When Election Day rolls around on November 3rd, voters across New York will head to the polls, and if you’re like most people, you’ll be proudly rocking that “I Voted” sticker afterward. Honestly, the stickers have become a source of pride on election day, just ask anyone who doesn't get one.....LOL!
Ulster County “I Voted” Sticker Contest Returns
To make things even more fun, Ulster County is once again inviting young artists to put their creativity on display with the return of its annual “I Voted” sticker contest.
The idea was first launched back in 2020 as a way to give local kids a chance to redesign the classic sticker, and it didn’t take long for it to get national attention. In 2022, one design from a 14-year-old student ended up going viral on social media.

Now, the county is bringing back the contest for another year, giving young artists another shot at having their artwork seen by thousands of voters.
How to Enter
The sixth annual “I Voted” sticker contest invites any Ulster County residents between the ages of 9 and 18 to create an original design for a 2-inch circular sticker that includes the words “I Voted.” Participants can use crayons, paint, pencils, digital tools, and more to create their designs.
Once they are done, they can be sent in as a photo, PDF, or JPEG, and both hand-drawn and digital entries are accepted. The submission window opens April 15 and runs through June 30. Entries should be emailed to elections@co.ulster.ny.us.
How the Winner is Chosen
Once all entries are in, a panel made up of election commissioners, local artists, and educators from the Ulster County Arts and Cultural Advisory Council will narrow it down to five finalists. From there, the community will get involved, with an online public vote happening later this summer to decide the winning design.
The winner will have their artwork turned into the official “I Voted” sticker that will be handed out to voters during the November 3rd general election. For more details, contact the Ulster County Board of Elections at (845) 334-5470 or visit their website.
