While it's not quite officially the holiday season, there are a bunch of people putting up their holiday decorations a little earlier this year. Anything goes in 2020.

But because of the ongoing Coronavirus, many of the big light displays (ones that involve families getting out of their cars and walking through the said display) are not going up this year.

The Hudson Valley knows how to come back from upsetting news like this. The Town of Hyde Park is introducing "Merry & Bright: A Holiday Driving Tour."

Merry & Bright will run from December 6th to December 20th. As of right now, they are soliciting homes to join the list of decorated stops. According to the Merry and Bright event page on Facebook, you have until November 25th to sign up to be a decoration destination.

They explain that homes that take part in Merry & Bright will be asked to have their houses decorated by December 6th and to have their lights on from 5 pm until 9 pm until the last day on December 20th.

There's also a twist. Those who take the tour are encouraged to download the Merry & Bright brochure with a map of all the locations taking part. On the back, there will be a ballot to vote on your favorite light display.

You can sign up for your home to take part in the light competition through the registration form online.

The Merry & Bright Holiday Driving Tour will kick-off on December 6th and 6 pm with a one night only light display at the following locations:

Hyde Park Fire Department
Hyde Park Highway Department
Roosevelt Fire Department
Hyde Park Police Station
Vanderbilt Mansion National Historic Site
