You might not recognize these New Paltz police officers anymore, but you'll love the reason they've let themselves go.

Eight New Paltz Police Officers participated “No-Shave November,” a fundraiser for the American Cancer Society This is the third year that the New Paltz Police team participated in the fundraiser. Last year the officers raised a total of $3,185.

This year's total set a new record. The hairy officers pulled in $3,705 with Sgt Duke Bunce raising $1,205 all on his own. Sgt Bunce also raised the most last year, raising $815.

The goal of No-Shave November is aimed at increasing public awareness of the fight against cancer.  New Paltz Chief of Police, Joe Snyder said,

This was another successful fundraiser and I appreciate the efforts of our members as well as everyone that donated to support the American Cancer Society.

Participating officers include Sergeant Pat Koch, Detective Joe Judge, Officer Evan Redmond, Officer Eric Bernhardsen, Sergeant Matt Sutton, Chief Joe Snyder, Sergeant Duke Bunce and Sergeant Keith Lewis.
