In late September of 2003, 94.3 became a country station and while we would later add 97.3 to our family, we were ready to go as Kicks 94.3 Today's Best Country. I was so excited, I have loved and listened to country all of my life. In fact, before moving to the Hudson Valley I had worked at a country station in Northeast Pennsylvania for 6 years.

We were all so excited to announce to the Hudson Valley that we were here and playing the best country, we decided to put on a free concert at the Mid-Hudson Civic Center and give one lucky listener a chance to go to Nashville with lots of meet-and-greets with some of the biggest stars of the day.

On a cold December evening, we welcomed Lorrie Morgan and Rodney Atkins to town. It was a great show, we announced the winner of the Nashville trip before the music started and we were off. Both artists put on a great show and the audience was singing along.

If I can have a fangirl moment here, when I was backstage getting listeners ready to meet Rodney Atkins, I went to the green room to see if he was ready and as I turned to leave, he said 'You know you have the prettiest eyes I have ever seen' I think I'll call you 'Pretty Eyes' and he has ever since. Admittedly, he may have forgotten by now, but I still can have my moment.

Do you remember the show? Were you there? We'd love to hear your memories of that night.
