Fire Department Called To Rescue Cow From Ditch New York
The Hudson Valley and Catskill Region is full of firefighters who give their time for their communities. No call is too big or too small. Many of the men and women answering our call during an emergency are volunteers.
I try to find stories to spotlight how hard-working our local fire departments can be on a daily basis. I don't ever have to look far. It seems day in and day out these great people in our community are helping people and animals whenever we call.
Jeffersonville Fire Company with Help From Other Agencies Rescues a Cow
This week I saw that the Jeffersonville Fire Department which is a volunteer fire station in Sullivan County, took the time to help a local farmer and one of their cows. Forget the cat in a tree, this call was for a cow in a ditch.
According to the post that the Jeffersonville Fire Department put on Facebook they were called out Monday morning around 9:20 AM to an animal rescue. The post doesn't say whether they knew it was a cow before they got to the scene.

You might ask yourself what do firefighters know about saving cows? Turns out probably plenty. After all the men and women in the Jeffersonville Fire Department are from the area, some of them may even be farmers themselves. But also keep in mind very often fighters will get training for things that apply in the communities.
So whether there were firefighters with cow experience on the scene I can't say without more information but what I can say is from the pictures they shared they did a great job and the cow is doing well.
Make a difference for your community, check in at your local fire company, and find out how to become a volunteer. If you can't volunteer consider a donation. Also, be sure to follow the fire house events calendar for ways to support your local fire fighters.
