
Police Stop Suicide Attempt on the Mid-Hudson Bridge
A scary incident unfolded Tuesday evening on the Mid-Hudson Bridge when a woman was attempting to take her own life and jump from the span.

According to the City of Poughkeepsie PBA Facebook page, it all started on Tuesday, November 4, 2025, at approximately 6:34 p.m., when City 911 received a call reporting that a person was on the Mid-Hudson Bridge with her leg over one of the bridge rails at the middle of the span.
Patrol officers and members of the Hostage Negotiation Team quickly responded to the scene to attempt to locate the woman.

Upon arrival, negotiators located the woman and immediately began talking to her to try and convince her to step away from the rail. Thankfully, after some convincing, it worked, and she stepped back from the rail.
Woman Escorted off Bridge
After a period of more negotiation, the woman eventually allowed law enforcement to escort her off the bridge, where she was met by members of the Mental Health America of Dutchess County, NY Mobile Crisis Team.
Once the woman was safe, officers transported her to a nearby hospital for evaluation and treatment. Quick actions and great work by all involved.
