Mother Nature was not very kind to the Hudson Valley this past Saturday morning, but that didn't stop the dedicated volunteers, staff, and walkers for this year's Dutchess Heart Walk. I was honored to once again be a part of the day by helping to emcee along with Mark Bolger from our sister station MIX 97.7.

If you weren't able to make the walk at Vassar College, you can still join in on the fun this Saturday with the Ulster Heart Walk at Dietz Stadium in Kingston. Paty Quyn will be on hand to do the honors of emceeing. Registration begins at 8:30 with the Walk starting at 10, and fingers crossed for lots of sunshine.

According to the American Heart Association, their goal is to reduce cardiovascular disease and stroke by 20% by the year 2020 and by participating in the Heart Walk you are helping yourself live a longer life. The Heart Association currently supports 4 Hudson Valley researchers with over 1.14 million dollars in funding. Things like CPR, pacemakers, cardiac catheterization, bypass surgery, stents, and clot-busting drugs were all American Heart Association research innovations. If you can, please walk, if you can't, please donate.
