The New York State Police have announced the results of a recent ticketing campaign, resulting in thousands of drivers being ticketed.

New York State Police Target Holiday Drivers

Back in August, the New York State Police (NYSP) informed drivers that they would be out in full force throughout the Labor Day weekend, handing out tickets to any drivers who were breaking the law. The four-day statewide Labor Day weekend enforcement campaign kicked off on Friday, August 29, 2025, and ran through Monday, September 1, 2025, targeting drivers who were driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, speeding, driving aggressively, distracted driving, and failing to wear seatbelts.

State Police Issue Thousands of Tickets Across New York

The special enforcement, which was partially funded by the Governor’s Traffic Safety Committee, utilized additional patrols, sobriety checkpoints, and additional DWI patrols to target drivers who were distracted or impaired.

In total, the NYPS issued a total of 9,912 tickets statewide during the Labor Day weekend enforcement campaign, including 3,519 for speeding, according to a press release. Troopers issued 311 tickets for distracted driving, 485 seatbelt violations, 211 to drivers that broke the "Move Over Law," and arrested 225 people for DWI.

How Many Tickets Were Issued in the Hudson Valley, NY?

In the Hudson Valley region, troopers issued a total of 1,472 tickets, including 595 for speeding, 31 for distracted driving, 62 for child restraint & seat belt, 17 for the Move Over Law, and arrested 59 people for DWI.

During last year’s Labor Day weekend enforcement campaign, which ran from Friday, August 30, 2024, through Monday, September 2, 2024, the State Police issued 10,240 total tickets and arrested 232 people for DWI.
