Spring is Here and So are the Ticks
Yesterday for the first time in many years I had the opportunity to work around my yard. I have been looking forward to the first wonderful day this spring to get out there and take back my yard from the wildlife. The last few springs I have been so busy that it always seems to be summer before I get out and clean up the gardens.
I have always been a person who loves to spend time working around the yard. There is a sense of satisfaction when you can sit in your yard with a cup of coffee or a glass of wine and look around at flowers, birds, butterflies and know you created that space. I love being outdoors more than indoors. So imagine my disappointment after my first day in the yard when I discover that I have already gotten my first TICK!
Ticks are no joke as we all know. And unfortunately unless you own a gaggle of guinea hens you are going to have them in your yard. I just can't believe that winter is barely over, spring is still trying to arrive and we already have to worry about ticks. I am not going to let this slow me down and you shouldn't either, however make sure you are being tick smart. Cover-up, tuck in the pants, use repellants and always check for ticks when your done outside. The first 24 hours is key.
