For some reason this week I got thinking about how to brighten up my home and my office. It could be all the gloomy stormy days we have had. I was trying to think of something that could be instant and that when I thought of flowers.

That's right a good old bouquet of flowers. There is nothing like fresh flowers to brighten up a room and we all could use a little bit of sunshine lately. It has been so dark and gloomy the past few weeks I wondered if the sun had decided to skip summer in the Hudson Valley.

Alright so maybe I am exaggerating just a tad but when I have to turn lights on in the morning to get out of bed that isn't exactly a bright sunny summer day. And as of late if the sun shows up at all it is later in the days and the heat and humidity just chase us back into the bad lighting and the AC.

Don't get down in the mud

Instead, my answer until this streak of bad weather exits stage left is to add some cheer to my person space with fresh flowers. I have 5 good suggestions that you can get just about anywhere this time of year and they don't have to cost your a lot of money.

I realize their are people who spend lots of money keeping fresh flowers in their house all year round. That can add up. I am thinking homemade bouquet from farm market flowers and just while the weather is being so gloomy and humid. Thing of it as summer in a vase.
