
Are Major New York Snowstorms Really on a 10-Year Cycle?
Massive Winter Storm Heads For the Hudson Valley
If you've been living under a rock, then you might have missed the news...there's a snowstorm on the horizon.
Get your milk, get your bread! You're going to need it. Forecasters are calling for any where between 10 to 20 inches of snow across the region.
Meteorologist Ben Noll says:
It’s going to be a big one.
I’m expecting 10 to 20 inches of snow from the storm arriving on Sunday in the Hudson Valley — with localized totals possibly reaching two feet.
The snow is expected to start between 5 am and 8 am on Sunday morning and wont stop until around noon on Monday. Noll adds that because of "frigid temperatures in the lower portion of the atmosphere and lots of rising air, this storm is primed to produce big, fluffy snow flakes that pile up with ease."

One to two inches of snow could fall per hour. Noll also said that this storm reminds him of the "Blizzard of 1996."
Is There a Trend of Major New York Snow Storms Every 10 Years?
It's hard to ignore the news of the impending snowstorm since everyone is talking about it.
However, the folks at CBS 2 have an interesting take on the storm. Is there a 10 year winter storm trend in New York? Meteorologist Lonnie Quinn shared an interesting stat on CBS Morning News.
It looks like we've had serious snow storms every 10 years since 1996, aka the "Blizzard of 96" that everyone is referencing. Take a look:
