Skydiver Hits Tree in Dutchess County
It all happened on Sunday in Rhinebeck.
According to the Daily Voice, a man was skydiving up above the Town of Rhinebeck in Dutchess County, late Sunday afternoon when he missed his planned out landing spot and wound up hitting a tree and falling to the ground.
Sgt. Peter Dunn from the Rhinebeck Police department told the Daily Voice that David Jacbaruso of Gardner New York was attempting to land in the Town around 5:45 p.m. Sunday, at the American Legion Hall located at 3631 Mill Street, when he hit a tree and became entangled in it and fell about 30 feet to the ground.
When emergency personal arrived they determined that Jacbaruso had suffered a broken wrist in the fall and he was then transported to a local hospital by Rhinebeck EMS to be further evaluated.
According to the website CS Monitor, back in 2014 there were a reported 24 fatal civilian skydiving accidents and 729 skydiving injuries out of about 3.2 million jumps.
