The charges could lead to the cadets being court-martialed.

According to the Times Herald Record, the cadets in question are charged with conspiracy to distribute controlled substances and wrongful use, as well as introduction and distribution of controlled substances.

The cadets, 5 from the class of 2017 and one from the class of 2016, have been identified as Joshua Bobo, Jaelen Gadson, Tevin Long, Christopher Monge and Jalen Swett, and Jared Rogers.

The charges are in direct violation of the Uniform code of military justice and has started the process of possible court-martial.

There are a few more steps that need to be taken for the charged men to be court-martialed. First would be a pre trial investigation that would be done by a military officer from West Point. Then the officer would make a recommendation to senior officer, who would then decide if the cases need to be put in front of the superintendent.

The cadets are now on administrative leave from the academy awaiting their future.
