Ryan Trahan Penny Challenge

Back in 2022, Trahan began a month-long series he called the "Penny Challenge", where he planned to travel across the country and hand-deliver a penny to fellow YouTube star MrBeast. The challenge was that he could only use money for travel, food, and more that he made using the original penny.

When the challenge started, Trahan announced that he hoped to raise $100,000 for the nonprofit Feeding America. Along the way, fans and businesses made donations totaling $1.38 million as the challenge ended.

If you haven't watched the Penny series yet (no spoilers....LOL), it was so popular that not only was it on YouTube, but it was also available on Amazon Prime. That's where I found it and began watching with my son, and from the first episode, we both became fans.

Ryan Trahan's New Challenge

When we heard that Trahan and his wife Haley were getting ready to kick off a new adventure, we couldn't wait to follow along. Back in June, he announced that they were starting a journey to stay in 50 unique Airbnbs across 50 different states.

The plan was for the couple to stay in one Airbnb per day, giving fans and businesses the chance to donate to a specific charity. For this journey, they selected Saint Jude's Children's Research Hospital and hoped to raise $1,000,000.

To help raise money, they introduced the "Wheel of Doom," where, if activated, the couple would spin it and have to do a specific challenge.

Ryan Trahan Stuck in Poughkeepsie, NY

On day 27 of their journey (video below), the couple started in New York and announced they would be heading to Connecticut next, but before they left, they needed to visit a special place. Trahan joked he was feeling "risky" and wanted to stop in a town called Poughkeepsie. "How many times are we gonna get to stop in a town called that? Never," said Trahan.

The couple packed up the car and drove through the Hudson Valley, stopped off at a Dunkin', and crossed the Mid-Hudson Bridge, entering Poughkeepsie.

They ended up at Waryas Park near the Hudson River and discovered one of the small house-like libraries along the way, when the wheel of doom was activated, leading them to complete a challenge. After mentioning that Airbnb donated $250,000 to activate and pointing out seeing a beaver or gofer for the 1st time ever, they announced that "red light, green light" had been activated.

That means that he couple needed to roll the dice to see how many hours they would need to stay in Poughkeepsie before they could hit the road. Trahan rolled a five and said, "What are we gonna do in Poughkeepsie for 5 hours?"

They walked a bit, visited a coffee shop, and grabbed a meal at Farmers and Chefs at 40 Albany Street. Once they finished, they met up with two guys on the street and had some fun with whether or not Trahan was saying Poughkeepsie right or not.
