We are inching closer to Memorial Day weekend and the unofficial start of summer, which means that Hudson Valley firehouses will be planning their summer fundraisers. BBQs, breakfast, and even carnivals will be on the bill.

But what about right now? What is happening at local firehouses that we can do to help them raise money? Your fire company will be there when you need them, so it is time to be there for them.

Some firehouses have been holding recruitment drives this Spring. If you can volunteer, be sure to stop by your fire department and see what you can do. While you are there, check out what fundraisers they are planning and then make a plan to attend the event.
Esopus Firehouse Plans Run/Walk at Marist Brothers Estate
Saturday, May 17th, 2025 - The 1st Annual 5K Esopus Fire Department Run/Walk. Registration is going on now, and you can save money by registering before April 25th. Bib and T-shirt pick up is at the firehouse on May 15th at 1142 Broadway in Esopus, New York. The race will be held inside the confines of the Marist Brothers Estate. Saturday, June 7th, 2025 - The Washington Heights Fire Department in Middletown has a BBQ Chicken Dinner planned from 2 PM to 5 PM. Tickets are $20 and include half chicken, pasta salad, baked beans, a roll, and water.
