UPDATE: The Car Carrier tractor trailer has been removed and traffic is moving again in both directions on Route 9 - as of 4:20 PM (August 20, 2020)  but you can still expect so delays.

According to traffic sources and 511NY.org, Route 9 just south of I-84 is currently (reported at 4:00 pm August 20, 2020) closed in both directions.

We are receiving reports that a disabled tractor trailer truck has resulted in Route 9 just south of Interstate 84 being closed and is causing traffic delays. According to traffic reports the Route 9 is closed both north and south bound. This is in the vicinity of Fishkill so it could cause traffic problems at the height of heavy commuter volume on both Route 9 and I-84.

You should avoid the area and use the Taconic or Route 9D as an alternate route. If you do have to travel through the area expect long delays. On the alternate routes you can expect additional congestion from people being re-routed from the effected area and from I-84.

We will update you with addition information on the closure when it becomes available.
