Professional Football has come to the Hudson Valley. Saturday night, the Hudson Valley Fort will have their opening kick-off  at 7:05 in Dutchess Stadium. According to Phillipstown.info,  the Fort is another team in the fledgling Fall Experimental Football League (FXFL), established in 2014 with the hope it would become a reliable developmental platform for the NFL. In 2014, more than 25 percent of FXFL players received a call back to an NFL team.

There are 2 other New York-based teams, the Brooklyn Bolts and the Florida Blacktips, from Orange County. There were other teams in the league scheduled to compete this season, but they have since folded. The Hudson Valley Fort will play the Brooklyn Bolts in this weekend's inaugural game in Dutchess County.

John Jenkins, a former head coach at the University of Houston and the Ottawa Renegades of the Canadian Football League, will be the coach of the Hudson Valley Fort, according to Phillipstown.info.

Let's go Hudson Valley Fort!
