Power Issues Force Unexpected Closings at One Hudson Valley Mall
Numerous stores at one Hudson Valley mall have been forced to temporarily close or delay opening due to ongoing power issues.
The last few days have been a bit of a struggle for numerous businesses that live inside the Newburgh Mall on Route 300 in Newburgh, New York as intermittent issues with power at the mall have caused many of the stores to temporarily close.
Newburgh Mall Businesses Forced to Close
According to the Newburgh Mall Facebook page, the issues started back on Friday, January 10th a little before noontime as they posted that stores including Exotic Cloud, Jules Vision, T-Mobile, Bath & Body, Royal Barber, Jimmy Jazz, VIP Nails, Banter, Custom Fashions, Claire’s, and Chiltio’s were currently closed due to a power issue.
Shortly after that post, the mall posted that due to the power issues, the mall would be closing early saying, "The Newburgh Mall closed early today due to power issues. We expect to be open for business tomorrow at 10 am." The mall did say that Resorts World Hudson Valley casino was "still open and fully functional as well as Flamming Grill Harbor Freight, McDonald’s, and O’Reilly Auto."

On Tuesday, January 14th, the mall posted another update saying that some of the previously unaffected stores like Justice Martial Arts, Boost Mobile, H&R Block, Mister Pizza, Shoe Dept, Designed Grind, and Champs would be closed for the day due to another issue with the mall's power.
Another update on Wednesday, January 15th informed customers and employees that Boost Mobile, Designed Grind, Champs, Micro Cell, Mister Pizza, H&R Block, and Shoe Dept. would be opening late due to a power outage.
They hoped to have the stores open by noon.
What's Causing the Power Problems?
At this time it is unclear what caused the power outages but one comment left on Facebook said "There are some issues with our electrical equipment and we are doing everything we can to have it up and running efficiently and safely."
We have contacted the mall to see if they could share any more information on the situation but haven't heard back yet. When we do we will update this article, in the meantime if you need to shop, we encourage you to visit the mall.
