The Town of Poughkeepsie Police Traffic Enforcement Unit reports investigating a three-car crash that happened on Saturday around 10:30 p.m., on South Road next to Hudson Plaza.

According to police, a 42-year-old man from Arizona was making an illegal U-turn near Hudson Plaza when he hit a Town of Poughkeepsie Police vehicle traveling in the opposite direction.

After the initial collision, the police vehicle then traveled across the northbound lanes of South Road and struck a parked vehicle in the Wendy’s parking lot, police say.

The Arizona man and police officer were both taken to a nearby hospital with head injuries. All three vehicles involved were towed from the scene. South Road had two lanes closed in the north and southbound directions for approximately four hours while the accident was investigated.

The investigation is ongoing and Town of Poughkeepsie Police is asking anyone who may have witnessed the crash to contact the Town of Poughkeepsie Police Department Traffic Enforcement Unit at 845-485-3680.
