Popular Hudson Valley Playground Enters Final Expansion Phase

Julie's Jungle at Lime Kiln, the incredibly popular hot spot for kids in Hopewell Junction, is currently undergoing the final phase of their expansion.

According to their website, Julie's Jungle is the first truly accessible public playground in Dutchess County, and was created by an all-volunteer Board of Directors that began fundraising efforts  back in 2012.  The original layout was for 8,000 sq. ft. space, and those plans quickly expanded to over 16,000 sq. ft. of play area.

With all it's offerings, the goal is that

Julie’s Jungle will address the needs of all children, those who are able-bodied and those with visual, hearing, cognitive, or physical impairments.

In speaking with Janet McHugh, Founder, she explained

Julie's Jungle is about to be even better with the addition of a 5,000 + sq. ft. sensory garden. Construction of the garden has just begun and is estimated to be completed in mid-November. It will feature a tranquil pond with the calming sounds of flowing water, a butterfly garden, a zen inspired pea-stone garden, and more. The colors and the scents of the plants will be calming and serene.
