Please Send These Hudson Valley Congressmen a Valentine
Regardless of your politics, you're going to want to pick up a Valentine's Day card for your local congressman this year.
With the most romantic day of the year just a few weeks away, Hudson Valley shoppers have already been inundated with rows of candy, stuffed bears and flowers for sale at local stores. But while you're picking up something for that special someone this year you'll also want to make sure to grab an extra card or two.
That's because the Valentine's For Veterans program is underway thanks to two Hudson Valley congressmen. Rep. Sean Patrick Maloney and Rep. Antonio Delgado are both collecting valentines that will be distributed to local veterans. Delgado, who has kicked off his second year of the program, says "a personal, handwritten card is a much-appreciated way to say thank you to those who have bravely served our country." The 19th district's representative is collecting the cards at his Kingston office until February 13.
In the 18th district, Representative Maloney is now in his sixth year of collecting cards for veterans. The congressman said in a release, “We made a promise to honor and care for our veterans, and the Valentines for Veterans program is just one small way we can show our appreciation for the brave men and women who served our country," Those who wish to get their cards in can send them to Maloney's office by February 11.
Regardless of where you fall on the political aisle, I think we can all agree that the veterans of the Hudson Valley deserve our recognition. If you'd like to participate in the programs, you can send your cards to the addresses below.
