A local bar that was once one of the areas most popular summertime destinations is literally sinking into the river. You knew it it was summertime in the Hudson Valley when Gully's in Newburgh opened for business.

First opened in the early 80s by Ralph Rizzio and ran by Gail Guimares, Gully's featured great bands every weekend and one of the best happy hours around. It was eventually sold to new owners and shut its doors for good in 2015. The current state of the boat is in rough condition.

Milagros Cardona-Shaw was out for a kayak ride in the Hudson and came across the old barge that was once known as Gully's. Just be aware the video below is NSFW so don't crank the volume if you're at work (language).

We reached out to Angela Joy who was a bartender there for seven seasons and enjoyed her time on the boat despite the hot summer days and no AC on the upper level. It wasn't an easy place to work because the kitchen was downstairs so there was a lot of going up and down to serve customers. There were lots of positives to take away from the experience including the fact she feels she learned the skills necessary to go on to own her own establishment with her husband John, AJ Cafe in Wappingers Falls.
