If you are into fixing up cars that need some work or maybe your feeling a little lucky this is just for you.

It looks like Newburgh has entered into an agreement with Auctions International Inc. to soon start auctioning off abandoned cars and city vehicles and it will all be done online according to the Times Herald Record.

There are a bunch of abandoned cars that fill two impound lots outside of Newburgh Department of Public Works garage located on Pierce’s Road and Public Works Commissioner George Garrison told the Record that the lots hold 40 to 50 cars that are of auction quality.

Most of the cars have been left by owners who have failed to pay towing fees or storage fees.

Newburgh normally had most of the abandoned cars crushed but because steel prices have fallen recently they have decided to try something else to create a little more revenue.

The auctioning wont cost Newburgh anything to do and Garrison told the Record that “Instead of getting $150 a car, we could probably get $1,000.”

He also commented on what type of cars could be auctioned off, he said that “There’s a couple of Cadillac's up there,” and that the cars will be sold as is and if you buy a car you will pay a percentage of the sales price to Auctions International.

No word on whenthe auctioning will begin but as soon as they make the information available we will update this story.
