
New York DEP Mourns the Loss of Police Detective
A New York City Department of Environmental Protection police detective has died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound at the department’s police academy in Kingston, New York.
According to numerous reports, a New York City Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) police detective, William Kresser, has died after suffering a self-inflicted gunshot wound Monday at the Health Alliance Hospital in Kingston, NY.
New York City Department of Environmental Protection Police Detective Dies
The Environmental Police Benevolent Association (PBA) made the tragic announcement on Facebook, saying,
"It is with profound sadness that we share the passing of our colleague, Det. William Kresser. Unfortunately, Bill succumbed from a self-inflicted gunshot wound today at Health Alliance Hospital in Kingston. This is a heartbreaking loss."
Det. William Kresser served the agency for nearly two decades.
Support for Friends, Family & Coworkers
The PBA said it is doing all it can to support Det. Kresser’s family and friends and will offer counseling and services to Kresser’s coworkers, saying, "We are doing all we can to support Det. Kresser's family and friends right now. This is a very difficult time for everyone. The agency will be offering supportive services and counseling for his co-workers, many of us have worked alongside him or been trained by him for nearly 20 years."
