A post on the NYS Department of Corrections and Community Supervision's Facebook page stated that staff immediately began life-saving measures, but due to the injuries, Hadian, who had recently returned to work following a medical leave, couldn't be saved.

The post also stated,

"Our thoughts are with the family of the deceased, the staff at Marcy who witnessed this horrific action, and those who knew and worked with this person."

DOCCS deployed its Critical Incident Stress Management Team to the facility to provide support to the Marcy staff in the wake of this tragedy.

The NYSP said that no foul play is suspected at this time and that a handwritten note was recovered at the scene and is being translated as part of the ongoing investigation.
